Before pipe bursting was offered , the traditional method of repairing a damaged sewer meant excavating a trench the entire length of the pipe to be replaced. In many cases, the “after effects” of this old method could become more costly than the digging itself. From replanting the lawn, to replacing sections of a driveway, to fully replacing landscaping such as trees or fencing, these expenses add up fast.
The advantages of pipe bursting a sewer are obvious. First and foremost, it is quicker. In general, a full replacement averages 5-7 hours with only minimal time of complete lateral disconnection. Secondly, it does not disrupt the landscaping, driveways, trees, or adjacent utilities. Only two areas are needed to access the existing sewer. A splitting head is pulled through the existing line, breaking the old and pulling the new simultaneously. In the end pipe bursting a sewer could lead to a faster and less expensive way to solve ongoing sewer troubles. |
